Thomas “Tommy” J. Fitzpatrick, age 90 of Gaylord, formerly of Green Isle, died on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2020 at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m, St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Green Isle. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in Arlington Monday, November 9, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. ~ 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Green Isle, MN.
Tommy was born on September 21, 1930 to Robert and Ella (McCarthy) Fitzpatrick in Green Isle Township, Sibley County. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Green Isle. He attended Green Isle School and lived, farmed, and worked on the family farm near Green Isle his entire life. He married Shirley Schmidt-Lindemeier late in his life on July 29, 1994 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Green Isle. The couple lived on the farm for many years where Tommy raised hogs, cattle, chickens and had a dog that was his best friend. Farming was his life’s passion along with a strong affection for Allis Chalmer tractors.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; Step-children; Bonnie (Jim) Peacher of Boise, Idaho; Diane (Leon) Alsleben of Plato, MN; Wendy (Francis) Bigaouette of Arlington, MN; Rodney (Paty) Lindemeier of Plano, Texas and Laurie Lindemeier of Dallas, Texas. 17 Grandchildren; Matthew (Angela) Bigaouette, Melissa (Jeff Fredrickson) Bigaouette, Amy (Brent Doebbeling) Bigaouette, Andrew Bigaouette, Daniel (Justina) Bigaouette; Heather (Matthew) Norris, Meagan Peacher, Nathaniel(Monika Kvapil) Peacher, Amanda (Thomas) Schmidt, Anthony (Anna) Alsleben, Beth (Brandon) Adams, Tiffany (Albie) Gordon, Dawn (Curtis) Bergsholm, Alex (Esme) Lindemeier, Joel Lindemeier, Kyle Rickard, Vianna Rickard. 26 Great-Grandchildren, brother-in-law, Phil Holland of California; Brothers and Sisters-in-law; Lawrence (Duke) and Jean Schmidt of Arlington, MN; Darlene and Lee Poppler of Watertown, MN, Milan and Joyce Bonine of Glencoe, MN and Jeanie Bonine of Bloomington, MN and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ella Mae Haney and Peggy Holland and brothers-in-law; Darwin Bonine and Lonnie Bonine.
