Timothy Buckentin Obituary

Timothy Alan Buckentin, age 53 of Hamburg passed away Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 18th at Peace Lutheran Church in Arlington. Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the church. Inurnment will take place following the service at the Arlington Public Cemetery columbarium. Kolden Funeral Home of Arlington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Tim was born on September 4, 1967 in Glencoe to Robert and Shirley (Graupmann) Buckentin. He was baptized at Emanuel Lutheran Church on September 17, 1967 by Pastor Brill. He was confirmed on May 2, 1982 at Emanuel Lutheran by Pastor Klemp. Tim graduated from Central High School on June 5, 1986. Tim together with his brother Brad built a ’65 Impala in which they dated, raced and cruised Arlington together. He furthered his education at Hennepin Vo-Tech to become a mechanic. He was employed in the service department at Sears in Eden Prairie and Brau Motors in Arlington. He was self employed for many years helping out wherever he was needed. Tim loved to fish, hunt, work on cars and build things. He was in the process of restoring his 1972 Chevelle. Tim was not one to sit still, he was there to help anyone no matter what the task even if he didn’t like it. He has a special bond with his nieces and nephews, especially his great nephews. They would come in the house and say “Where’s Tim?” and find him in his room to wrestle or play video games. Tim was a blessing to his parents, especially now after his mom’s recent strokes. He told the family he’d see to it that she’d be eating healthy and exercise, then come home from Coborn’s with sugar free mints and a raspberry bismark because they were her favorite. He started creating artwork out of metal because mom seen something she liked and the same day he came home with the item wanted. He has made many items since that first one for the rest of the family. He fixed and maintained the vehicles of his entire family (maybe grumbling slightly).

Tim is survived by his parents, Robert and Shirley Buckentin of Hamburg; siblings, Lori (Daryl) St. John of Arlington, Bradley (Lynn) Buckentin of Shakopee and Kimberly Buckentin of Glencoe; nieces and nephews, Meagan DeVlaeminck (special friend Kirby), Candice (Jason) Tostenson, Talia Gilster (special friend John), Kaytlin, Ahren, and Erich Sellner, Nick (Jen) St. John; great niece and nephews, Bailey and Mason DeVlaeminck, Christian Tostenson, Draco Schlueter and Sullivan Ruiz, Arayah St. John, Cole and Harper Tostenson; aunts and uncles, Ken and Mary Graupmann, Char Graupmann; many cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by grandparents, Otto and Wilhelmina Buckentin, Hubert and Mabel Graupmann; aunts and uncles, Elton and Viola Stenzel, Erwin and Margaret Buckentin, Roger Graupmann; cousins, Leon Buckentin, Kerry Buckentin and Dan Stenzel.
