Tim was born on March 21, 1956 in Mankato, MN to Thomas (Dutch) and Patricia (Oberle) Lyons. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1974. He went on to truck driving school and began his over-the-road trucking career.
He loved traveling all over the country and has been to all 48 contiguous states. He enjoyed meeting people along the way, listening to music while he drove and seeing the sites at each stop.
On August 23, 1986, he married Nancy (Ubl) Carpenter, they blended their families and moved to Belle Plaine. Together they added two more sons to the family. Tim decided, then, to alter his career and moved to local trucking so he was able to spend more time at home with his family. After several years, another career change led him to J & W Asphalt, where Tim would frequently bring his sons to work with him. Many coworkers at J & W, became lifelong friends and are considered family to this day. Many years later, his final career change brought him to Jordan Transformer, where he worked until his medical condition left him unable to do so.
Tim always enjoyed Nascar, ice fishing, watching his children and grandchildren play softball, home poker tournaments, bocce ball, bonfires and Pink Floyd music.
Tim is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Lyons, of Mankato, his children, Sara (Tyler) Palmer of Mankato, Andrew (Jenn Congine) Carpenter of Naples, FL, Eric (Jenny Philipp) Lyons of New Prague, Stephen (Ashley) Lyons of Belle Plaine, Liz Kotewa and Alexander Lyons of Mankato
