Veryl Janell Jones, age 89 of rural LeSueur died on Sunday, June 12, 2020 at the Ridgeview Nursing & Care Center in LeSueur. She was born on December 11, 1930 in Fargo, N. D. to Allan and Ella (Thomforde) Brattland of Ada, Minnesota. Veryl graduated from Wadena High School in 1948 and from Moohead State Teachers College in 1952 with a degree in elementary education. Veryl taught elementary school in LeSueur, Minnetonka and St. Peter for 13 years. On February 1, 1958 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Jones in Wadena, Minnesota They lived on the family farm near LeSueur most of their married lives, 62 years. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in LeSueur and served as the Treasurer of the United Methodist Women for many years and was involved in various Circles.
Veryl is survived by her husband, Wilbur and sons;, David (Susan) Jones of LeSueur, Gary (sp. Friend, Mary Jo Paulson) Jones of Carver and daughter, Cheryl (Blake) Edmondson of LeSueur; 1 grandson, Trace Edmondson and 2 step-grandchildren, Brittany (Chad) Miller of Buffalo, ND and Joshua (Melissa) Edmondson of Granite Falls and 1 great-grandson, Weston Edmondson. Also surviving, brothers & sisters in law, Darline Jones, Marvin & Kathy Novotny and M. L. (Bud) Christenson. She was preceded in death by parents, Allen and Ella Brattland, parents-in-law, Roger and Hazel Jones; sister, Muriel Christenson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold Jones, Elden and Nellie Jones and Kermit and Lucille Heldberg.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur. Rev. Terri Horn from the LeSueur United Methodist Church in LeSueur will officiate. Masks will be required for the funeral services. Interment will be in the Mound Cemetery in LeSueur. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services. Mask are encouraged for the visitation.
