William "Bill" Kemp

William “Bill” Kemp, age 82 of Gaylord passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11^th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington with interment in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be 2 hours prior to mass time Friday in the Social Hall at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Bill was born on November 28, 1939 in Arlington to Leo and Minnie (McNamara) Kemp. Bill worked in road construction for various firms including McNamara Construction and farmed a few acres and raised beef cattle and hogs. Bill married Dorothy Wiese on June 12, 1965 in Arlington. Dorothy passed away on November 15, 1996. He was a true outdoorsman by loving to fish, camp, hunt pheasant and snowmobile. Bill also enjoyed riding horse and was a big supporter of his daughters in 4-H and FFA. He was a member of the Minnesota Cattleman’s Association and the local Knights of Columbus. Bill also drove school bus for many years and loved visiting with family and friends. After spending many years alone as a widower, he married Thelma Krause on June 22, 2019 in Gaylord.

He is survived by his wife, Thelma Kemp; daughters, Rebecca (Terry) Shogren and Barbara (Nathan) Kranz; grandchildren, Jennifer DuFrane, AJ DuFrane, Teddy DuFrane, Jeremiah DuFrane, Jon DuFrane, Lucas Shogren, Isaac Kranz and Savannah Kranz; great grandchildren, Maddie, Rain and Elle; sister, Muriel O’Neill and nieces and nephews.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; daughter, Beth DuFrane on October 11, 2015 and brother, Gerald on 12/27/2020.
