William “Bill” Walter Schultz, age 85, of Belle Plaine, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, October 28, 2021. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, with Rev. Martin Bentz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Bill was born in Chaska, MN on October 26, 1936, to Vernon and Sylvia (Heinisch) Schultz. He grew up near East Union and later moved to Belle Plaine. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and Belle Plaine High School. In 1955 he enlisted in the US Air Force, and proudly served his country as an aircraft mechanic. He married Judith Huettner on July 30, 1960, at Zion Lutheran Church in Victorville, CA and made their home there for the next seven years where their 3 daughters were born. After moving to Belle Plaine, they built a new home and added two sons to their family, one passing away 6 weeks after birth. He worked as a heavy duty truck mechanic for many years at Malkerson Motors in Shakopee and later at the Belle Plaine Coop until he retired. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, as well as singing in a Barber Shop Quartet, church choir, and later with the church men’s choir. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, wife, infant son, his siblings Daniel (Kathy) and Gretchen, and grandson Cody.
Bill is survived by his children, Joann (Al) Pomije of New Prague, MN; Nancy Wuollet of Mitchell, SD; Sandra (Gil) Hernandez of New Prague, MN; Troy (Sara) Schultz of Belle Plaine, MN; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister Lori (Fred) Bohnsack; sisters-in-law, Sharon Norris & Lynn (Brad) Morrow; many nieces & nephews.
